Over 59 million eligible to vote in Irans 2021 presidential elections

Deputy Interior Minister of Iran and head of the countrys election commission announced on Monday that out of over 59 million Iranians who are eligible to vote in the 2021 presidential election, over 1.3 million Iranians will be voting for the first time.

Deputy Interior Minister of Iran and head of the country"s election commission announced on Monday that out of over 59 million Iranians who are eligible to vote in the 2021 presidential election, over 1.3 million Iranians will be voting for the first time.

Jamal Oraf said on Monday that 59,310, 307 Iranians can cast votes in the forthcoming presidential election with over 1.3 million of them being first-voters.

He added that except for Tehran, voting would be electronic in 24 provincial capitals, where no paper ballots or usual ballot boxes would be used.

More than 72,000 polling stations will be installed across the country, the official further said.

The Deputy Interior Minister also said that the Ministry of Health and Iran"s Red Crescent Society will have inspectors on the polling stations to monitor the optimum observation of health protocols.

Iran’s 13th presidential election will be held simultaneous with the sixth round of municipal council elections for the cities and villages, the first mid-term for 11th round of parliamentary by-election, and the second mid-term for the fifth round of Assembly of Experts" election on June 18.

On May 25, Iran’s Ministry of Interior released the names of seven presidential hopefuls who have been qualified by the Guardian Council.
